Jonathan Rosen
Animation Reflection
It's been difficult for me to imagine the skill and work that goes into the art of animation up until this class.  I enjoyed learning 2D because of my already existent love for drawing.  There's a lot of precision that goes into every bend move and step that has to be translated from slide to slide.  Though it translates well when played back though, 24 frames translating into 12 drawings per second is incredibly tedious  every little move, especially when more complicated characters need to be drawn repeatedly for entire films.  On the future I want to learn more efficient techniques to make the 2D process faster, skills that probably only seasoned animators have acquired.
The 3D process is definitely a whole different animal as far as how fast it is to set up scenes full of positions since in betweens are automatically filled in.  But the skill set is much more specific in comparison to 2D.  2D is easier to improvise because drawings are easier to figure out without formal training while I found 3D to be much more difficult despite the lack of tedious in between scenes because you need to deeply understand the program before making any progress.  Without a solid amount of knowledge and training in the program, making 3D projects will be relatively impossible.
I want to become more proficient at 3D animation over 2D though because that is the basis of the modern day animation industry.  I especially have in interest in game design and the creation of characters.  This class gave me a better perspective of what it's going to take to become an animator.
